Cork band Gerry Quigley & The Shinkickers made their debut at Galways iconic live music venue Monroe's Live on Thursday November 26th. Playing at the Backstage Bar the crowd was captivated from start to finish as The Shinkickers pumped out a succession of spine-tingling, rocking, mesmerising originals and classic blues/rock to an enthusiastic crowd, with some music fans travelling all the way from Donegal especially to see the band play.
Cork City locals will be familiar with one of their favourite singer/songwriters who already enjoys a successful solo career, playing to delighted fans in many pubs and live music venues in Cork City, and surrounding areas of Co. Cork.
Of course I am talking about one of our newest Shinkickers, our lead vocalist/guitarist John Dunne.
What do you get when you combine Gerry Quigley & The Shinkickers (Ireland touring lineup) with a versatile and talented heavy metal bass player? I'd like you to meet one of our newest members, Denis Coveney. Denis is from the international touring band Flatline who once played support for Iron Maiden!
Denis' presence in the band is already having an unintentional influence in our sound .. inspiring Gerry to bring back a hint of that Raw Deal magic, you can definitley hear it coming back! We still have our captivating Shinkickers originals of course, but have a whole new set of classic blues songs chosen to suit our new lead singer, with a heavier blues sound.
Gerry, Sharon & John travelled to Dublin on Sunday night to pay a visit to the studios of Dublin's most popular rock radio station Radio Nova for an interview with Pat James on his show "Off The Record" to promote their next Dublin gig this Friday 16th at Arthur's.
The three played a couple of tunes live on air and chatted to Pat James for about an hour or so, about the band and their music, their recent UK tour, their latest album, their to be confirmed 2016 Australian tour and their current Hometown Tour 2015 which is still in full swing.
The new Shinkickers (Ireland) lineup features John Dunne on Vocals & Guitar, ex-Flatline Bass player Dennis Coveney, and former Hothouse Flowers drummer Jerry Fehily who has already played with the band, you'll be in for a real treat this Friday 16th at Arthur's in Dublin!
You can listen back to the interview and the show for the next 7 days from the Nova website at http://www.nova.ie/ just click on the "Listen back" link and scroll down to "Off The Record with Pat James" and 10pm.
