GERRY QUIGLEY ANNOUNCES FIRST UK SHOWS IN SEPTEMBER

Written by Druidstone.

If you love the sound of guitar legends like Gary Moore, Eric Bell, Jimi Hendrix or Rory Gallagher, I’d like to introduce you to another blues/rock guitarist virtuoso, none other than Dublin's Gerry Quigley who is set to take the stage in the UK for the first time in early September including the True Blues Club Merseyside, Nantwich Rory Gallagher Festival and The Cavern Liverpool.

After 30 years touring & recording in Western Australia, where he was awarded prestigious life-long membership of the renowned Perth Blues Club for his contribution to the Perth music scene, Gerry has moved back home to Ireland where he's settled in Cork City, and formed the Irish lineup of his blues/rock and originals band of 24 years, The Shinkickers along with his instrumental Progressive Celtic Rock band The Nomadic Druids.

“That was REALLY cool!” – Steve Morse, Deep Purple
“Man, I LOVE your vibrato!” – Roy Buchanan
“Tasty guitar pieces there” – Eric Bell,  ex-Thin Lizzy

THE SHINKICKERS and THE NOMADIC DRUIDS - Tour Perth 2014

25th, 26th, 27th & 29th July

Originally from Dublin, and playing professionally in Western Australia for the last 30 years, Gerry Quigley, 2 years ago relocated back to Ireland. He recently returned however, to his Australian hometown of Perth, to visit family, and whilst here, reforming his long standing and highly acclaimed five piece rock/blues outfit of 23 years, 'The Shinkickers', to perform again, to their passionate and. dedicated West Oz fans, their unique and infectious brand of Celtic hard edge blues and rock, in a whirlwind reunion set of 4 outstanding and highly entertaining shows over a an extended weekend, starting on Friday night 25th July at the Indi Bar, Scarborough Beach and following through to a climax, two band showcase 'Perth Blues Club' event at The Charles Hotel on the Tuesday night 29th July.

Also reformed and on the final night's bill was Gerry's musically mesmerising original instrumental project, soon to be launched in Europe, 'The Nomadic Druids', an instrument quartet performing a 45 minute continual play, 'listening showcase' of the band's debut CD 'Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow', recorded at Shelter Studios, Perth in 2012. A virtuoso musician at a world level, Gerry's powerful and melodic style is hypnotic to the ears, and as always, kept listeners mesmerised from beginning to end, the set finishing with a yet to be recorded outstanding 10 minute melodic rock guitar piece titled 'To Be Sure, To Be Sure...to be sure'.

The Shinkickers line-up consisted of 3 original core members, Geoff Bushby on vocals, guitar, harmonica and saxophone, Leroy Cleaver on drums and Gerry Quigley on guitar and strings. Original keyboard player Terry Pugh, who was present at the debut show, but no longer playing full time in Perth, was replaced by corporate keyboardist, Jonathan Pitulej, and long time friend and highly accomplished local musician John McNair on bass, both of whom are also original members of 'The Nomadic Druids' Guest appearances included Gerry's wife, musical partner, and a musician in her own right, Sharon Quigley, playing keyboards on his popular masterpiece 'Weeping Willow', talented rocker, guitar teacher and ex-student of Gerry's, Rod Pearson on guitar, and yours truly 'Soda Lee' for my usual fun rocked up classics at the end of the night.

All four sell out shows were a joyous celebration of music, friends and fans spanning over the two decades and crossing generations. On Gerry's return to his new home in Cork, he will move forward with the continued development of 'The Nomadic Druids' project, while playing a steady flow of shows with the Ireland based line-up of 'The Shinkickers'. He hopes to return to Perth again in the coming 24 months, with the possibility of extending the tour interstate and onward to the East Coast.

A very much missed part of Perth's live musical circuit, Gerry's return threw a brief, but very uplifting and powerful explosion of world class guitar music expertise to a currently low key and somewhat quiet Perth Winter live music scene. We all look forward to your return our dear friend!

ROCK!
